I had been looking forward to Rajiva and Olga’s wedding for a long time. They had amazing Sydney Harbour locations planned for the day and it promised to be my first Sri Lankan-Russian cross cultural wedding :)
David Atkinson and I arrived at Olga’s house to photograph her preparations. Olga’s family are from the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia and spoke only a little English. Directions involved lots of pointing and “da”, “nyet” but as it happens they were all fabulous in front of the camera and I just stood back and watched the magic…

Fantastic flowers, fantastic bridesmaid, fantastic colour!

Once Olga’s dress went on, she started working the camera, and didn’t stop right to the end of the night.

Read on to part 2 to see their amazing ceremony and reception in the shadow of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
